The week started off with an assembly on Monday. The student council from Juab Junior High came to our school and taught the students about the types of bullying and things they can do to help stop bullying. The overall theme was "TAKE A STAND, LEND A HAND TO STOP BULLYING NOW!" 1st and 2nd graders watched short video clips on the different types of bullying and learned a song about "Standing for something". 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders watched as the student council explained and then acted out the different types of bullying. They also watched a video telling the story of a kid who was bullied and eventually ended up taking his life. A song was sung by Verena and Makena Lenhart letting us know that we all have the "Power Within" us to take a stand and to stop bullying. These students were also taught a song by the JJHS student council that talks about how important is to stand for something. We need to "Take a Stand." The assembly was a great way to kick off a fun week.
A big THANK YOU goes out to the JJHS student council: Nick Robbins, Hannah Jacobson, Sarah Bonzo, Taylor Ludlow, Brock Anderson, Lydia Bailey, McKay Christensen, Riki Squire, Cameron Welburn, Shelby Cameron, and Steven Orme. Below are a few pictures from the assembly:
During the rest of the week, bullying will be discussed in the classroom, and the students have the opportunity to write on our grafitti wall. Friday, students will wear white for "peace." Below are pictures of the grafitti wall in the lunch room and some of the things the students wrote.
Mrs. Ware said it best in the newsletter: "With a team effort of students, teachers, and parents working togehter, we can reduce the problems of bullying in our school and community." Working togehter is how we soar to success!

Fundraiser--once again our students work as a team and soar to success!
The orders have been sent and the money counted. The Red Cliffs Eagles earned almost $12,300. That is amazing. We receive 50% of that profit. The money we get will go to pay for the student's yearly school supplies (notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue etc..), the class fieldtrips taken each year, and the publications used within the classroom (national geographic, scholastic news, etc.). Thanks for all your hard work students, parents and teachers. Working together we definitely soared to success!
REMINDER: Cookie dough will be delivered to each child's classroom on Tuesday, March 15. If your child has more than two tubs of cookie dough to carry, PLEASE plan on picking them up that day to help carry it. Also try to deliver it that day or put it in the freezer. THANK YOU.

Kayla Nichols is our play ot the week--March 7
Kayla Nichols is a 3rd grader in Mrs. Gledhill's class. She stays after school each day to clean the whiteboards and get the attendance sheets ready for the next day. She was absent a couple days last week and Mrs. Gledhill realized just how much she appreciates what Kayla does each day. Great job for helping our team soar to success!

Cookie Dough Fundraiser is underway
The Cookie Dough fundraiser is currently underway. Packets were handed out to students on Thursday, February 24. The students need to return packets on Thursday, March 3. Cookie dough will be delivered around March 15.
All funds made through the fundraiser go right back into the school to benefit our students. This fundraiser helps pay for our students' supplies, field trips, and publications used within the classroom.
We hope you will support your students in their efforts to sell. Thank you for helping us soar to success!

3 students chosen for the Play of the Week
Riley Everitt from Mrs. Hughes' 6th grade class and Hayden Loveless and Trevor Stoneman from Mrs. Garrett's 3rd grade class were chosen as the play of the week. These three boys bought all new pencil top erasers for the pencils in the music room to replace the brand new ones that had disappeared the week before. Great job Eagles!
Amazing things like this happen daily at Red Cliffs Elementary. We have great students, faculty and staff who work together as a team to soar to success.

Mason Scott is our play of the week February 7, 2011
Mason Scott is a 3rd grader in Mrs. Gledhill's class. Since school started he has been doing this: He stops and lets the younger students in the 1st and 2nd grades pass in front of him in the lunch room to get to the recess side of the gym. He does this every time they need to get through. Great job, Mason!
